Cowboy seatpost drops, solution
OnTheRoad1 min reading time

Known problem on the C4 and Cruiser, and the solution is simpler than you think
What you can try for yourself
1. Pull the seatpost out of the frame. 2. Spray it clean with anti-greasy spray or chain cleaner. 3. Wipe it dry with a clean cloth, surface should be completely clean and matt. 4. Slide it back and turn the clamp on normal torque (NOT extra tight).
Clean surfaces clamp much better than greased. This solves the problem in most cases.
When to call us
If the above does not work, something else may be going on. We focus on maintenance and compatible wear parts; we discuss additional work or parts in advance and only perform after agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't tightening work?
A seatpost clamp works on friction-fit. Above a certain strength you only deform the material (both pen and clamp) without increasing the friction. Clean = better.
Which grease can I use?
Preferably NO lubrication on the seatpost itself, which should be dry and clean for the friction. If the bike is outside and you are afraid of crashing, a very thin layer of carbon-paste is an option.
