Frequently asked questions about home repair & maintenance
Which bike mechanic comes to your home in Amsterdam?
OnTheRoad works completely mobile. You choose a moment online and our mechanic comes to your home or work with the cargo bike and mobile workshop. You don't have to take your e-bike anywhere.
What part of Amsterdam are you coming to?
Within the ring, up to about 6 km from the center: among others Centrum, De Pijp, Oud-Zuid, Oud-West, De Baarsjes, Oost and the Rivierenbuurt. We do not yet do Amsterdam-Noord. Please enter your zip code when booking to check it.
How much does e-bike maintenance cost at home?
A maintenance costs €45,00, including travel and VAT. If you live 3 to 6 km from the center, it is €60,00. Parts such as an inner tube or brake pads have a fixed price that you hear in advance. You pay after the appointment.
What do parts and extras cost?
Brake pads €24,00 per side, an inner tube €15,00 and hydraulic brakes bleed €30,00 per brake. A second bike in the same visit costs €25,00. Additional work is €25,00 per half hour. The booking form calculates your combination before you confirm.
Which brands can I book maintenance for?
For Cowboy and Tenways we do the full maintenance. For VanMoof and Veloretti we do tires, brake pads and basic maintenance. Choose your brand and model in the booking form, then you will immediately see what is possible. For Tenways we are listed as a service point in Amsterdam.
Can you fix a malfunction on my e-bike?
No. Engine, battery, display, app and other electronics are outside our service, and we do not diagnose. We only do maintenance and mechanical wear parts.
Does the mechanic replace parts without asking?
No. Anything you didn't choose in the booking form first, the mechanic will discuss with you, including the price. If you say no, it will remain with the maintenance.
How often does my e-bike need maintenance?
This is stated in the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. Your use determines the rest: who drives daily is more likely to have new brake pads or tyres than who only bikes on weekends.
How long does an e-bike service take?
This varies by bike and depends on what you book, such as brake pads or a tire. The booking form reserves the time required for your choices. We do not mention a fixed number of minutes here, because this is different per appointment.
